I am all for spaces, but the original developer preferred tabs. We can do the conversion in a next version.

yes, it does matter

I already knew python, i'm looking for collaborate in aldrin project, i have at the same time the need of work in some sampler machine and later in some tracker and at the same time the need of making an open rpg engine/editor. I'll try make the 2 things and not only the rpg thing.

Just a few thoughts.. Performance seems pretty bad for the GUI (more noticable now with the heavier demo songs). Are we going to be able to get round this at some point, or are we digging ourselves into a pythonic hole here??

I noticed a few things that I added from before which should be removed.. like the "draw LEDs" tickbox in prefs - that was to try to improve performance on the eeePC, but I think it was the wrong approach.

On a (not very) related note, does anyone know the status of qpsycle and buzztard? Are either approaching usability for song writing yet?

Performance always seemed ok for me, especially if you compile with debug mode disabled.

In other projects I've been able to move visualization code to C. It adds a bit indirection but I do believe it is worth sticking to python, be it a hole or not.
